Bommi’s patent experience started as an inventor while he was a graduate student, and continued as a research scientist, as a patent agent, and as a patent attorney. Bommi practiced patent law at many of the Bay Area’s prestigious law firms. He also served as in-house counsel at companies such as Alza.

Bommi’s patent law experience at law firms and corporations has given him a unique perspective to the patent related needs of corporations ranging from Startups to Fortune 500 companies.

Bommi’s industry experience includes research and management positions at Merck, Cygnus, and Alza. He is an inventor of more than 20 patents and has published more than 50 articles in scientific journals. Before founding Convergence IP Law, Bommi was the CEO at NTERO Surgical, Inc., a medical device company that he co-founded with support from Menlo Ventures, where he handled the challenges of raising capital, assembling a top notch team and developing products.

Bommi received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from a joint program between University of California, San Francisco and University of California, Berkeley and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.

Bommi is licensed to practice law in California and is a registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
